Miss England Rachel Christie has given up her crown after she reportedly punched Miss Manchester, Sara Beverley Jones, 24, in the face in Manchester nightclub dispute regarding her partner.
Christie who was the first black woman to be crowned Miss England, was taken into custody on suspicion of assault and sources say that she has been bailed until January 2010.
The niece of former sprinter Linford Christis, is an athlete who looks forward to participating in the 2012 Olympics.
Miss England organizers have said, “Due to the media attention following the allegations against her, Rachel Christie has now decided to withdraw from the Miss World competition and relinquish her Miss England crown”.
Reports say that the dispute began when Miss Jones – who is an ex-girlfriend of TV gladiator Tornado (David McIntosh) and current partner of Christie – showed Christie a message from David.
