Japan’s Riyo Mori won the event.

Unless you are like me, thinking that even a bad example can be a good example…of what not to do, Mexico’s beauty queen is NOT like Japan’s beauty queen.

Priscila Perales was arrested for drunk driving – 0.9 blood alcohol level.

She was also given the maximum fine – 20,000 pesos ($1,800). If Riyo Mori were caught driving drunk, the fine would be the equivalent in Japan, to be sure. But, Mori hasn’t been caught driving drunk….yet…or never we hope.

In short…don’t drink and drive.

It’s Christmas. Get a ride home if you drink. Better yet, stay home. Best of all, don’t drink.

Um, isn’t Donald Trump’s name on the Miss Universe Pageant?

Mori has been trumping Trump’s pageant since May of this year…making money for the Trump.

Are we to think that just maybe Mori won the pageant because the Donald calculated he could make more money off her over the course of the year?

They’re doing the ‘Hulaween.’ Which translates to they are hanging out a benefit gala for a New York Restoration gala.

But then, what else would beauty queens be doing?

“I will say this out loud: I will not wear fur,” Mori told AFP. “I love animals and I agree with those who oppose wearing fur products.”

Those people, Miss Mori, are PETA. Repeat after me PETA.

Mori demonstrated her new zeal by refusing to wear any of Fendi’s fur coats on an upcoming trip to China.

One of Mori’s pledge ‘pet’ projects is to draw the attention of pet lovers in Japan.

“I wonder how many children in Africa would starve to death while some people here spend a lot of money on their pets,” Mori said. “We have to think about more than just what’s right in front of us.”

Mori, just 20-years old, is not totally Arrogant and Dumb after all, or is she?

Riyo Mori is in the hot seat with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) because she wears fur….she is promoting cruelty.

“As Miss Universe, you are expected to be a positive role model who sets a good example,” PETA said in a letter to Mori. “Prove that your beauty is more than skin deep.”

“By choosing to wear fur, not only are you directly responsible for the deaths of dozens of animals, you’re also sending a clear message to everyone who sees you that animals’ lives are less important than fashion.”

PETA also sent some links to Mori to gross her out.

As much of an activist I am NOT, I would go with PETA on this one.

Students of mine showed me some of the links in a presentation.

After watching them I wanted to strip down naked and wear nothing…think dog and cat farms in China…that sort of thing.

At an interview with Reuters in Tokyo, the 39-year old author of the memoir which just came out in English showed off her tattoos.

The writer says – police efforts to eradicate the yakuza have just made them more difficult to track.

Perhaps…but not when they are in the hot springs.

When I was in Japan, hanging out at the hot springs with my friends, nothing made the Japanese scurry about more, with towels strategically placed, than seeing someone come in with tattoos all over their body.

And, Sanjo, Niigata, where I lived was considered a stronghold of the Yakuza for the ‘backside’ of Japan region.
