Kristina (Christina) Koz-Gotlib (Kots-Gotlib) will represent the Ukraine at the 58th Miss Universe 2009 in the Bahamas.

Christina Kots-Gotlib is a 25-year-old model from Donetsk.

Christina Kots-Gotlib was selected to represent Miss Ukraine Universe 2009 at a beauty pageant on Feb. 20.

Christina Kots-Gotlib was the oldest and most experienced contestant. It was her self-assured presence on stage that apparently conquered the judges.

Christina Kots-Gotlib won the title and the crown as well as a Mercedes-Benz, a monthly stipend of $5,000 for a year, and a trip to Paris.

Christina Kots-Gotlib was born in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.

She is interested in dancing, playing football and dismantling home appliances.

She learned rhythmic gymnastics as a child and even had minor achievements in the sport.

She started modeling while studying at the Donetsk Trade and Economy Institute. S

Christina has won dozens of local and national beauty contests, and started a singing career in 2005 with the Ukrainian pop trio Via-GRA.

The pageant will be held at the Atlantis Paradise Island, in Nassau, Bahamas on August 30, 2009.

Miss Universe 2008, Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela, will crown her successor. About 80 countries and territories are expected to compete. The pageant will broadcast live on NBC and Telemundo.

It is estimated that the Miss Universe Pageant brings in more than $1 billion in free advertising for the country that hosts the girls. There is TV exposure as well as some 15, 000 tourists who follow the pageant around each year.

The catch – a government needs to pony up some $20 million or so to the Donald to get the rights to host the beauties.

If I only had $20 million and my own country.
