Blood Types – When Japanese Put Others in a Box

“We Japanese…” is a phrase that can drive foreigners in Japan nuts. Okay, maybe it was just me who is driven nuts. The Japanese phrase is

日本人は。。。

nihonjin ha (wa) . pronounced knee hone jean wah

I always figured when a Japanese person didn’t have the backbone to stand on their own, express their own opinion, they would hide behind this phrase, as if they had polled every Japanese person in Japan and come to the conclusion that the whole nation agrees with them, so they can then in turn say whatever follows.

The Japanese do have a time, however, when they allow themselves to be put in a box, others, too. It’s when they talk about blood type. The Japanese, IMHO, place far too much emphasis on the blood-type.

Relationships are built or never even started because of matching or incompatible blood types.

I found these charts that give some idea.

Come to think of it, that O-type guy, is a lot like me…hmmm, maybe.

So, how about you? How much stock do you place in a person’s blood type when it comes to ‘knowing’ that person?

As for me, the stars have as much chance of knowing….
