A Girls’ Best Friends

In times of distress, a girl needs to have her best friends with her for comfort. That’s what I imagine Softbank must’ve thought when they decided to put their new platinum bodies, diamond encrusted 823SH phone on the market.

The phone has more than 400 diamonds and is created through a cooperation between Softbank and the Japanese branch of the well-known jeweler Tiffany & Co. Despite the worst financial crisis since decades, the companies must have figured that the small price tag of 13 million yen (about $130,917) would be no problem for the gadget-loving Japanese.

And they were right: the limited edition of 10 phones was sold out within three days.
