Wii Sold Out in the US

Black Friday helped Nintendo to see black. Many stores sold all of their Wiis within hours of them going on sale.

Not to worry, Nintendo plans to send 4 million more, at a rate of 250,000/wk between now and Christmas.

Nintendo has 62 games available for the new player – 32 new ones and 30 which can be downloaded from the Internet.

The price tag – $250 each. wii.jpg

Let’s see, 4,000,000 x $250 = $1 billion, doesn’t it?

Neither Sony with their PS3 nor Microsoft with their xBox seem to be sweating it as the Wii is intended for a completely different market, they say.

But, you can be sure both companies are eating their hearts out as Nintendo contiunes to ring up sales.

Question: If Nintendo cleared $500 million in profits with the Wii, how might they turn that money around and invest in future video games?

I wonder if Sony and Microsoft would sweat it then?

What do you think?

Heh, I really do think they’re in hot water with all this cashflow Nintendo is making. I don’t think sony has a chance with the fun factor. Microsoft would probably be a good competitor with Halo 3 and the other games. (I’m referring to sales and whatnot, I do believe sony + microsoft is in a different market than Nintendo now)

Totally false. Nintendo is producing 1.8 million units per month:that operating at max. production. CEO states that they will be unable to meet consumer demand thru the 1st quarter of 2008.

Hm, sounds good. They’re nearly sold out around Newark. NJ. I didn’t know what would happen if I didn’t get my Wii. It’d be Texas Chainsaw all over again.
