Toyota to Adopt Production Line that Can Assemble 8 Models

This is why Toyota is the best carmaker.

Toyota Motor Corp. plans to gradually install production lines that can churn out up to eight car models at the same plant…both domestically and overseas.

This step will help the automaker make up for a loss of workers, baby boomers, retiring.

The company plans to invest 30 billion yen to install the production line at its Takaoka Plant in Aichi. Additional sublines for assembling parts, and robots for conveying car bodies will be installed.japanese.carmakers.jpg

when all is said and done, Toyota will roll out one car every 50 seconds, down from every 60 seconds. Amazing!

Assembly lines overseas can only produce two or three models now. If/when the Takaoka Plant proves successful, other domestic and overseas plants will follow.

Meanwhile, America's Big Three continue to restructure.

There is a reason why Toyota is the best, don't you think?
