The Aquos Blu-ray Disc Recorder will be the first next-generation-DVD recorder to be sold without a built-in hard-disk drive. It will record tv programs on a single-layer disc.

A dual-layer disc will go for about $175 more.

A dual-layer model with a 500-gigabyte hard drive and another with a 1-terabyte hard drive will come out around the first of December.

They will cost 50-300% more. sharp.blu.ray.recorder.jpg

Blu-ray recorders are dropping in price as the year-end comes around…think end of the year presents and Christmas presents.

Sony Corp. will start selling a hard-drive-equipped recorder for roughly 140,000 yen in November
