Japan Makes Environmentally Friendly Skating Rink Out of Resin Panels
A skating rink was opened Toyama, just in time for the cold season in a prefecture where it isn’t cold enough to freeze a lake.
The rink is 300-square-meters square and environmentally friendly.
Two reasons -
1. it does not use water to make ice
2. it can operate at half the cost of conventional ice rinks because it does not require a cooling system.
The rink is made of 80 plastic pieces that are glued together.
Skaters can move around as if they were on ice, but at slower speeds, because of greater friction.
