Yoshinoya Serves Up Beef Bowl
Yoshinoya D & C is serving up its signature Beef bowl – gyudon, day by day.
Yoshinoya gets its beef soley from the US. But US beef has been hard to come by after it was banned for a couple of years, then allowed to be imported again only to be banned one more time before finally permitted once more. Mad cow disease in the US was the early on culprit. Suspicious parts was the second cause for banning.![]()
As a result, the beef bowl company served its signature dish only once in September. This month, it was served for only five days.
Next month, it will be served for five days.
In December, Yoshinoya says they can serve the dish daily…but only at lunch time – from 11am 2pm.
I have been to Yoshinoya. And I love gyudon. Whenever, I pass our local Japanese supermarket around lunch time, I think, gee, gyudon for lunch today.
But…American beef is not all it’s cracked up to be. And because American cowboys can’t do business by Japanese standards, one good company is feeling the pinch.
That’s what happens when one industry cannot do their job….others get affected as well.
What do you think?
