AUTOMOBILES

Siam Nissan Automobile has begun exporting the new Nissan Tiida compact sedan and hatchback to Australia.

Honda del Peru S.A. (HDP) has announced plans to establish a wholly owned manufacturing subsidiary, Honda Selva del Peru S.A. (HSP), which will begin construction of a new plant in Iquitos, 1,000 kilometers northeast of Lima, later this month.

ELECTRONICS

Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Co. (TMD) will invest about 30 billion yen to install a new production line to produce low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) liquid crystal display panels at its Ishikawa Works in Kawakitamachi, Ishikawa Prefecture.

Fujitsu Ltd. has announced the development of a new large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) chip capable of real-time compression and decompression of high-definition TV-level video, in H.264(1) format.

HOTELS

JAL Hotels Co., operator of Nikko Hotels International and Hotel JAL City, has opened Hotel JAL City Kannai Yokohama–the 14th hotel under the JAL City name.

MANUFACTURING

Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. has announced the development and commercial launch of a silicone rubber for molding that possesses superior antistatic characteristics.

Hitachi Chemical Co. plans to open a plant in July to make protective film for use on liquid crystal display components, in Kamisu, Ibaraki Prefecture.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. has established a marketing and information-gathering base in Thailand in an effort to attract more overseas orders for its gas turbine combined-cycle plants and other power generation equipment.
