Lawson Inc. convenience stores have begun selling instant Campbell's cup soups.

The flavors–corn potage and clam chowder–are the first instant cup soups to be produced anywhere by the U.S. soup maker.

Winter KitKat

Nestle Group will begin selling on Dec. 25 its new strawberry-flavored KitKat candy bar, called KitKat Fuyu no Ajiwai Ichigo (Taste of Winter Strawberry).

Yamato model

Bandai Co. will release on Jan. 27 a 1:350 scale model of the space battleship Yamato from the popular TV series "Uchu Senkan Yamato," also known as "Star Blazers."

When assembled, the model is 76.6 centimeters (2.5') long, 22 centimeters (8") tall and 10.2 centimeters (4") wide.

A remote control included with the model allows the builder to control the ship's cannons and to "fire" the space cruiser's "wave motion gun," which is simulated by a light inside the model.

Price: 47,250 yen  ($400).

That last one would make a dandy Christmas present.
