In order to be number one, Tokyo, make that Japan's top university, Tokyo University had to import a flower from Sumatra, Indonesia – Amorphophallus gigas.

It is 3.1 meters tall and has a 1 meter bloom.

The flower is in the botanical garden of Tokyo's Bunkyo-ku in the Koishikawa Botanical Garden of the University of Tokyo.

This is the first time in four years that it has blossomed.phallus.jpg

My wife tells me I remind her of a flower…a blooming idiot.

I wonder if I could be the tallest bloom.

What's your favorite flower?
