Why Japanese Kids Commit Suicide

About every 18 minutes for the past eight years, someone has committed suicide in Japan.

About 5-6 each week are junior high or senior high school students.

Depression from whatever reason, bullying, bad grades, no friends…is the likely culprit.

A recent survey in Japan learned that nearly one in four junior high school student suffers from depression – 57% of them girls and 43% of them boys.

The solution – "In order to prevent children from committing suicide, home roomjapanese.suicide.jpg teachers should talk with them, learn from those who suffer from depression and take proper countermeasures."

A better solution – a solid home life, a father who is involved, good friends, normal pressure to do well in school, hobbies, a meaningful reason to get back at life the next day.

Have you ever felt so depressed so as to think about suicide?
