Which Countries have the most Doctors, Hospital Beds?

I was surprised to find out which countries have the most doctors and which have the fewest…which havethe most hospital beds and which has the fewest.

The countries with the most doctors per 1000 people:

1. Russia – 4.2

2. Beligum – 3.8

3. Germany – 3.5

4. Switzerland – 3.4

5. Sweden and the Netherlands – 3.1

6. United States – 2.7

7. Japan – 1.9

But which countries have the most hospital beds per thousand?

1. Switzerland – 18.1

2. Japan – 16.4

3. Russia – 12.1

4. the Netherlands – 11.3

5. Germany – 9.3

6. Belgium – 7.3

7. Sweden – 3.7

8. United States – 3.6

Japan has the fewest doctors to go around but more hospital beds to put people in.

This leads to a lot of home folk hanging out at the hospital to take care of loved ones who must remain hospitalized for a long time.

My father-in-law was hospitalized for a year and a half. It wasn't long until we were standing shifts to keep an eye on him. Mine was from 10pm to 6 am usually.

He didn't die on my watch.
