Westinghouse Will Acquire French Nuclear Firm Astare

Westinghouse Electric Co. is a group company of Japan's Toshiba Corp.

The French nuclear engineering company, Astare, will join the group.

The deal will close on Oct. 11th.

"This acquisition will better enable Westinghouse to provide engineering support and project management services in the very important French market," said a Westinghouse VP.

The deal will also help Westinghouse prepare for expected growth.

Tokyo-based Toshiba holds a 77% stake in PA-based Westinghouse which used to belong to the British Nuclear Fuels PLC.astare.nuclear.jpg

France gets some 80% of their electric needs from nuclear power. They can/do the disposal thing right also.

Surely, Toshiba/Westinghouse can learn from the way the French do things.

Let's just now tell the French they are teaching us.

What do you think of nuclear power?
