Web Savvy Geisha Wannabe Has Me Eating My Heart Out

An 18-year-old 'maiko' or geisha apprentice is learning the tea ceremony, dance, kimono wearing and how to introduce people to her world.

In December of last year she started the "Maiko Blog."  Nine months later, 300,000 people visited to find out how she is spending her days.

She writes a diary – I ate, took a singing lesson, painted my face…today.

Besides readers who are just intrigued by her world, she is also reaching out to young women who may want to try out her world.

She already has one convert….a 16 year old who signed up last month after learning what was expected from the "maiko blog."

You can read for yourself…in Japanese…at http://ichi.dreamblog.jp/

I wonder…did Zhang Ziyi take a look before signing on to do the flick "Memoirs of a Geisha."

Maybe I will enter the sumo world and write about that.

What do you think?
