Former maegashira, Wakanoho, is fighting Japan’s Sumo Association….in court.

Wakanoho was yorikiri from the ring by the JSA because he was found in possession of marijuana. Duh!!??

Wakanoho’s lawyers (going downhill from here) filed a suit with Tokyo District Court saying his penalty was too severe and he doesn’t want to be sent home.

He can only stay in Japan if he wrestles.

”I made a mistake but I want to continue to be a sumo wrestler. I will have a trial and try to go back to the sumo world,” Gagloev Soslan Aleksandrovich told a news conference.

Wakanoho is just 20-years old, a kid in any culture, IMHO.

Let’s see how forgiving Japan can be. Lord knows, Japan could use some forgiveness sometimes.
