Unlike Sony, Sanyo Fights Back in Lenovo Worldwide Battery Recall
Lenovo announced that is was voluntarily recalling 205,000 batteyr packs, 100,000 in the United States and the rest outside of the U.S.
The batteries in question are Sanyo's 9-cell Lithium-ion extended-life battery pack.
Sanyo is saying, "While the pack fully satisfied specifications and internal testing standards, these incidents occurred due to a strong external impact to the battery pack of a specific notebook PC model from a certain angle."
"Let me see. If I turn my PC this way and hit it with a sledge hammer at a 36% angle, maybe it will cause damage and I get a recall."
Lenovo is saying, aka Sony fiasco, the batteries could cause a fire hazard.
Sanyo is supporting Lenovo's recall but doesn't seem ready to swallow the responsibility.
Round One is over. Round two to come.
Who/what do you think is responsible for the 'drop in quality' of Japanese batteries?
