Two in Three Japanese Favor Unskilled Foreign Laborers
Almost two in three (63%) of Japanese favor allowing immigration of more unskilled foreign laborers.
Japan doesn't have enough workers and the population is dropping.
Robots aren't picking up the slack fast enough.
The answer – bring in unskilled workers who will do the menial tasks.
63% are for the idea; 31% are against it.
Since 1988, specialist and skilled workers have been accepted with a 'cautious' approach.
Of the one in three who do not want foreign workers in Japan, half said they would have a negative effect on employment and the working environment and one third said public security would worsen.
Japan's head of Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau says, " a system to accept foreigners under a policy of cultivating human resources was urgently needed."
Putting them in the ground, water them, spread fertilizer and make sure they get enough sunshine should do the trick.
