Toyota passes Chrysler, Ford next.

Toyota Motor Co. passed DaimlerChrysler AG as the number three auto seller in US for a full calendar year.

Toyota (Toyota, Lexus and Scion) ended up with 15.4% of the US market.

DaimlerChrysler (Chrysler Group, Mercedes Benz) had 13.3%.

Ford will be gobbled up next – just 16.4% of market share for the year. Toyota outsold Ford in July and November last year.toyota.jpg

Ford is HOPING for a 14-15% market share this year….Toyota will surely continue to grow.

General Motors Corp has a 24.3% US market share…but sales were down 13% in December from a year earlier and down 8.7% for the year.

GM is heading down. Toyota is heading up.  This year might be too early…but next year…maybe….2009…yep, more Toyota's will be bought in the US than any other car.

Honda's market share was 9.1% in 2006.

Nissan's market share ended at about 5%.

That works out to about one in three cars sold in the U.S. were 'made in Japan.'

Before long, it will be one in two, then…

what do you think?
