Toshiba Cleans Up in 1st Quarter

Toshiba Corp. is off to a great start this year with profits up 500%!

Profits in the first quarter of this fiscal year were $173.8 million.

Sales were up 14.6%!

NAND flash memory chips, large-scale integrated (LSI) chips for use in flat-panel TVs and other digital electronic applicances, and the PC business, especially in the United States were hot.

Toshiba also made special profits in the sale of real estate in a music-content venture to a group in Britain.

Toshiba will reevaluate its yearly forecast for sales and profits.

Meanwhile, everyone in the head office is down at the isakaya hoping that the news won't go away when their hangovers set in.

I am in the market for a new PC…perhaps I should take a look at a Toshiba.
