Top Six Countries Where Japanese Live Overseas and The Six Countries Where Foreigners Come From

There are twice as many non-Japanese living in Japan as there are Japanese living overseas.

So, where do the Japanese go to live and which country’s people have found a home in the land of the rising sun.

Where Japanese go to live -

6. Canada – abt 4.2%

5. Australia – abt. 5.1%

4. U.K. – abt. 5.3%

3. Brazil – abt. 7.2%  For a long time Brazil had the largest population of permanent Japanese expats of any country.

2. China – abt. 10.3%  China and Brazil are the only two non-English speaking countries in the top six – despite Japan’s unreasonable difficlut for acquiring the language.

1. U.S.A. – abt. 35%  No doubt because of all the business that Japan does in the US.

Who has found a home in Japan -

6. U.S.A. – abt. 2.5% and barely one sixth of the number of Japanese who head to the US.

5. Peru – abt. 2.8%  Go figure

4. Philippines – 10.1%  waitresses and such…emphasis on the and such.

3. Brazil – 14.5%  There are historical ties between these two countries. Four times as many people come FROM Brazil as Japanese who go to Brazil.

2. China – 24.7%  Almost five times as many Chinese come to Japan as Japanese go to China. But then China has ten times the population of Japan.

1. Korea – 30.8%  The number of Japanese who choose to live in Korea is NOT even in the top ten countries of choice. But, the Japanese do like their TV dramas.

It is a good thing to see this kind of expat exchange. Real change in relationships take place on this level – NOT from the top down.

What do you think?
