Tokyo wants to waste more money on global warming or perhaps under the pretenses they are fighting global warming.

The government is asking for an increase in funding of 18% to Y1.4 trilion – $120 billion – next year to cut greehouse gas emissions.

Tokyo, among other things wants to create water source forests and introduce alternative energy.

The budget –

42% for efforts that will have a direct effect on Japan's international pledge to slash annual emissions of greenhouse gases by 6 percent between 2008 and 2012 compared to fiscal 1990.

18% for creating water source forests and other forests that would absorb carbon dioxideglobal.warming.japan.budget.jpg

9% for promoting nuclear power generation

8% for introducing new energy sources and related efforts

the rest for streamlining the use of energy; for acquiring credits for Kyoto mechanisms; for making houses and buildings more energy-efficient.

Other steps –

1. development of fast-breeding reactors,

2. promoting an intelligent transport system

3. road maintenance and improvement in order to boost the use of the public transport system.

What global warming?
