Tokyo Makes Short List for 2016 Summer Game

Tokyo made the short list of four remaining cities who want to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

The other cities are:

1. Madrid – aiming to bring the Games back to Europe just four years after London 2012.

2. Chicago – wanting to bring the Games back to North America for the first time in 20 years – 1996 Atlanta was the last time.

3. Rio de Janiro – South America has never hosted the Games.

Tokyo hosted the Games in 1964 and received the best marks by the IOC in this evaluation report. But, the Games in Tokyo would be the second time in eight

years. Beijing has the Games this year.

Rio de Janiro seems the sentimental favorite. Chicago will make money for the Olympic coffers for years to come.

Eliminated were Doha, Qatar; Prague, Czech Republic, and Baku, Azerbaijan.

The winner will be decided on Oct. 2, 2009.

Who's your favorite?
