The Two Fastest Growing Fast Food Restaurants in Japan

Japanese are bucking the healthy eating trend. Apparently they can afford to gain a few pounds.

Fast food establishments in Japan are seeing a 7.1% growth in sales…soon to be followed by waistlines and health food bills.

The two most popular restaurants…Yoshinoya D&C which sells it signature beef bowl (gyuudon) and McDonald's Co. whose stores are open longer and are enjoying brisk sales as well as over night guests at some locations.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs' survey on overall household spending for February showed that average consumer spending on dining among Japanese households was 10,289 yen. ($85)

That much spending is up 5.1% over last year and the third consecutive year it has risen.
