Taxi Co. Starts Using Fuel Cell Cars

Submitted by Bill Belew on Tuesday, 20 February 2007No Comment

Nissan Motor Co. has leased an environmentally friendly fuel cell car to a taxi company in Yokohama.

The high-tech car does not emit harmful exhaust gases and costs the same for customers.

Nissan hopes to attract attention to the car, that is, consumers by leasing the car. The more popular the car becomes the more likely we are to see the car of the future, not so distant in the future.nissan.fuel.cell.jpg

The way I understand it, fuel-cell cars only need to catch on so that they can be more mass produced thus bringing the individual costs down.

Additionally, there need to be a hydrogen gas station network established. And…the oil companies are in no hurry to see either of those happening, at least not until oil supplies start running low.

Would you buy a fuel cell car if they were more affordable?
