Suzuki Wants to Dominate India

Suzuki Motor Co. has more than half the market share of four-wheeled vehicles in India…not four-wheel drive vehicles…cars, autos, that sort of thing.

But…Indians drive motorcycles at a six to one ratio and the first vehicle of choice for new drivers is the motorcycle.

Suzuki wants some of that action.

Suzuki, with an army of 14 welding robots made in Japan, and 11 built in India plans to start rolling out 150cc-engine motorcycles and automatic transimission scooters.

Suzuki has just a 1% market share in the two-wheelers far far behind Honda's 40% share. But…if they (Indians) love our cars, then they will love our bikes as well…is not a bad philosophy to build on.

Can Suzuki catch market leader Honda?
