Suzuki R Wagon MiniCars Outsell Toyota Corolla

Japan introduced the compact, then the sub-compact. How about one size smaller? – the shoe, er, the minicar.

The minicar used to be for those who couldn't afford a 'real car.' Now the minicar is becoming the car of choice in a land where gasoline goes for $4.75/gallon and the price tag is around $10,000, not too mention tax breaks and mandator inspections that are a lot cheaper.

They are easy to park and quite useful in rural areas where public transportation is limited.

Suzuki's Wagon R even outsells Toyota's globally beloved Corolla.suzuki.r.wagon.jpg

The cars' profit margins are so low, it is not cost-effective to ship them abroad….but producing them abroad…

an option perhaps.

Analysts doubt that minicars will appeal to Americans because of the radical revolution in size and horsepower, not to mention that most Americans wouldn't fit in one….seriously.

Minicars will push 50mpg easily.

But not in America where the load is too heavy.
