Sumitomo to Help Toshiba Carry Westinghouse

Sumitomo Corp. and Toshiba Corp. are talking about how the two companies can share the Westinghouse load.

Toshiba shelled out $5.4 billion to take a 77% stake in Westinghouse Electric Co., nuclear power plant manufacturer.

U.S. engineering firm Shaw Group owns 20% and Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries owns 3%.

Sumitomo is considering taking on 5% ownership and supply uranium and plant equipment to Westinghouse clients = China.sumitomo.jpg

Sumitomo originally planned to team up with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in a rival bid to Toshiba. But, when Toshiba finally won out, Sumitomo realized its 'loyalty was flexible.'
