Still More Good News for Japan’s Economy – All Nippon Airways Thanks China

Posted by Bill Belew on October 31st, 2006 in Japan | No Comments

All Nippon Airways (ANA) is Japan’s No. 2 carrier by revenue. The company added good news to the Japanese economic upswing by reporting that their net profit was up 69% over a year earlier.

And that net profit came in spite of the negative effects of higher jet fuel costs!

Why is it that when oil goes up, American carriers start crying poor mouth and raise fairs and still CANNOT manage a profit and the Japanese carriers can?

ANA’s international revenue jumped 20% largely due to a rebound in business travel, especially to China since Koizumi left office.

I wonder if ANA knew their business would improve when business with China was restored. Do people have that much insight? Or maybe I am just slow.

What do you think?
