Sony Takes On iPod With Superior Quality and NO PC Downloads via NetJuke

Sony is planning to show iPod how Japan does quality and convenience.

Sony’s two pronged approach is:

1. Superior quality – and Japan DOES know quality.

2. Music downloads sans PC, MAC or otherwise – Japan DOES know convenience.

Sony knows sound technology and household appliances. iPod does not.

NetJuke is an Internet linking audio console which connects to a Japanese music download site that is only sold in Japan.Sony battles iPod.jpg

However, once Sony builds up its market share in Japan, it plans to take on iPod overseas.

Sony Walkmans can already erase surrounding noise to deliver superior sound and some are waterproof.

The latest models have 80-250 gigabyte hard disk drives and have software that groups stored tunes by analyzing notes and rhythyms to suit each listener. Can iPod do that?

Sony is losing now. But, Japan knows how to invest in the long haul to get what they want eventually.

iPod isn’t sweating Sony yet. But the time will come when iPod will.
