Sony Corp. has developed technology that makes it possible "for digital consumer electronics users to wirelessly transfer data between devices by simply touching one to another."

TransferJet is the name of the technology.

TransferJet uses the 4.48GHz frequency band.

TransferJet transmits data – high-definition video.

TransferJet transfers at speeds up to 560 megabits per second.

TransferJet transfers within a range of 3cm.

TransferJet handles multiple data transfers simultaneously.

TransferJet uses only weak radio signals so there is hardly any interference with other radio devices

With this technology:

1. sending photos and video from digital cameras and camcorders to televisions

2. transferring music from cellular phones to portable audio devices

can be done just by touching them together.

TransferJet-based products will be released as early as 2009.
