Sony Buys Out JV Partner

Sony Corp. is not playing varsity and buying out a junior varsity member.

JV is joint venture.  Sony will purchase its entire stake in the joint venture Sony Broadband Solutions Corp. in hopes of strengthening its broadband IT solutions and to make up for the losses it is suffering until PS3 sales catch up.

Sony Marketing Inc., Itochu Techno-Solutions and a third company were developing new applications to combine audio visual and IT components.

For whatever reason…too slow working together, too fast, there's money to be made…Sony wants to go it alone.sony.jpg

My experience is, depending on the terms, of course, a JV partner can be quite happy to get bought out by a huge partner.

It equates to money in the bank…and not having to do any more work for it.

What do you think?
