Somali Pirates Aboard Japanese Tanker, Golden Nori, Confronted by U.S. Navy

The Japanese have decided they will not support the U.S. in refueling Navy ships in support of the anti-terror mission in Afghanistan.

Thanks, DPJ….Japan will Withdraw from Refueling US Ships in Indian Ocean

Meanwhile…Somali Pirates have hijacked a Japanese tanker and, yup, U.S. Navy warships are shadowing the vessel.

The tanker has 23 crew members from the Philippines, South Korea and Myanmar but belongs to Japan.

America's USS Porter, a guided missile destroyer came to the aide of the Japanesemsdf.japan.jpg chemical tanker, even destroying pirate skiffs tied to it.

No ransom demands have been made and there is no central Somali government to negotiate with.

The U.S. Navy says it intends to remove the pirates from the Golden Nori.

Do you think the U.S. Navy should back off and let Japan handle their own affair?
