Now if you’re done laughing, you should know that HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb) is a state of the art* technology that will give the medical world a real boost.

Designed by Prof. Sankai and his laboratory at University of Tsukuba; Japanese company, CYBERDYNE Inc., brings to life HAL.

HAL is a cyborg-type robot that is designed to expand and improve physical capability so that spells much hope for people suffering from musculoskeletal disorders. But of course the promises of this technology doesn’t stop there, various fields from rescue support to entertainment will be able to benefit from its application.

It looks a bit on the silly/geeky side, but it’s really the technology that’s impressive (runs on chargeable batteries!) Basically with HAL, one can literally ‘power up’ because it upgrades the wearers existing physical capabilities.

Now you want your own HAL don’t you?

*That means it’s going to cost a lot!
