Security-Lock Cell Phone Keeps Track of its Owner

The P903i from NTT DoCoMo comes with a small black card about the size of a movie-ticket stub.

The owner puts the stub in his/her pocket or wallet. When the card gets too far (25ft, 70ft, 130ft) from the phone – the phone locks up.

If the security card gets lost, a keyed in pass number will unlock the phone.

The phone also comes with a facial identification lock that recognizes its owner.

And, if you can’t find the doggone thing, it has a GPS card. Enter the phone number into a PC and the PC will tell you where the stupid thing ran off to.

On Tuesday, Japan’s major carriers will allow users to take their phone numbers with them if they switch.

The battle is on.

I wonder if the phone will cook dinner, too.

What do you think?
