Just when I was thinking  Japan Does Not Get Christmas

I get even more evidence that they do not…unless, that is, your idea of Christmas is Santa Claus…and Santa Claus academy and a bunch of Japanese Santas and graduating and commercialism and and…

Kiddy Land’s Santa Claus Academy in Harajuku has a gathering of recent grads and parades them outside the toy store.

My idea of Christmas? It’s all about the first five letters in the word.

Chris? Christmas is all about Chris? Does he (or she) know this? Should I write or send a card or something?

My idea of Christmas – It is all about giving the most expensive gifts to make yourself look good, and getting the most expensive gifts so that you break even. If you have any time left over, get really drunk and force yourself to spend time with those people that are supposedly “family” yet are complete and utter a…… well, annoying people.

Oh, sorry, my mistake… that’s not my idea of christmas, that is the average persons idea of christmas. My idea of christmas is that the average christians will spend it celebrating the hypothetical birthday of someone who was not actually born on christmas, while the good and moral people spend it celebrating togetherness, love and charity. And the rest, the rest are greedy annoying people.

Personally I spend it with my wife, celebrating absolutely nothing, but enjoying the togetherness and the complete absence of people pressing their religious agendas on us.

Merry Mass and a Happy New Year.
