Samsung Throws in the Towel in Japan
Samsung Electronics Co. has thrown in the towel when it comes to selling consumer electronics in Japan.
The company has stopped selling flat panel TVs and other electronic products saying it is unprofitable to try and crack the Japanese market.
Japan's Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Sony Corp. and Sharp Corp proved to be too formidable of opponents.
Samsung will no longer sell, LCD TVs, DVD players or MP3 players online either.
Instead, Samsung will concentrate on business-to-business sales.
The company will also continue to sell mobile handsets to Japan's Softbank Corp.
Samsung's retail and Internet sales made up less than 1% of the company's total sales in Japan.
Even Samsung calls it quits in Japan, it doesn't seem to me it will make much difference to the company's bottom very line.
There are other markets in the world that will warm up to Korean products.
What do you have that was made in Korea?
