Russia Wants Japan to Invest in High-Tech

Russia's deputy prime minister wants Japanese companies to invest in the high-tech sector.

Yeah…good luck with that.

The deputy PM says Moscow is pursuing a consistent economic policy and that the macroeconomy is stable.

Okay…but what about when the policies change and things turn well on the macroeconomy stage and Japanese investment is no longer needed?

The Sakhalin project comes to mind.

I reckon that Japan would very much like to invest in their big bear neighbor.

However, even Russia considers legislation to specify strategic economic areas and to clarify to overseas investors where they can be involved…Moscow can always and usually does in its own interests change its mind.

Russia doesn't play fair.

What do you think?
