You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Yeah, we know that one.

Well, how about, where do old dogs go?

Dog Retirement Home

Dog Retirement Home

Answer – to a retirement home. Dog, dogs as in ‘woof, woof’ or “wan, wan” (in Japanese).

There’s a retirement home in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost MAIN island. I know, there are smaller islands further up north, IF the Russians will give them back.

The Sapporo Retirement Home for dogs has sheltered more than 200 animals since opening in 1978. Quick math tells me business is not grooming, um, booming. That’s less than seven dogs a year.

At any rate, volunteers give the old dogs the best possible care until they are either adopted by sighted humans or die.

No, you can’t send your old wife there.
