Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has developed a robot – Wakamaru that is happy to fill in where Japan is lacking in labor…event guides and reception clerks..

"Can I help you? Right this way, please? What floor? Look at that nice…"

The robot is designed to give a warm welcome – "we were expecting you."

'We' is Wakamaru and his friends, Wally the electronic Whiteboard and Victor Record Everything Video Player.

"Let me lead you to the reception room."

Beeeep! Wheee!!! Flag goes up.

"Right this way, please.

Wakamaru is a cute little droid, but he? doesn't compare to the young and pretty human driving elevators in a business suit "please watch your step getting on the elevator. What floor, please."

Oh…and for 120,000/day ($1000), gosh, I'll show people where the reception room is, too.
