Question # 15. How much does it cost to fly to Japan to teach ESL?
Question # 15. How much does it cost to fly there?
The answer to this question, of course, depends on where you are flying from.
However, any more, it seems that a person get to Japan from anywhere for less than a $1,000, less than $500 if the ESL teacher makes the trip during a non-travel season.
I live in the Bay area of Northern California. Besides the year end and July/August summer months I can get a round trip ticket to Japan for UNDER $400 from San Francisco International.
My point is – Japan is not as far away as it used to be….moneywise.
In many cases, the hiring institution will even reimburse travel costs if a certain time committment is met.
At my school, we required the prospective teacher to pay their own way to Japan as an good will indication of their committment to work.
If someone offered you a free trip to Japan to see if you wanted to work for them or not, would you take them up on it?
We asked for a year's committment in addition to the teacher paying their own way to Japan in return for setting up their living arrangement and securing their work permits.
If worked out for us and our teachers in about 95% of the cases.
