Pioneer, Kenwood, Panasonic, Clarion Out Front Supplying Infotainment in China

It is not surprising at all that the Chinese want to enjoy the drive as much as Japanese and westerners do.

Japanese vendors, Pioneer, Kenwood, Panasonic and Clarion are the leaders in collaborating with the Chinese to provide the vehicle entertainment and car navigation systems that the Chinese will want in their cars.

I can’t even get the radio in my car to work and the CD changer that came with the car went on the fritz a long time ago.

But, I have friends who show movies to their kids on trips, have speakers in different seats, and a voice coming from their mirror (seemingly) telling them which way to turn to get to the mall.

It seems the Chinese will think that is cool to do.

And the Japanese are willing to work together with Chinese companies to make the systems more cheaply for cars destined for the Chinese domestic market as well as cars China hopes to export.

It seems like a great opportunity ($4 billion of opportunity by 2013 according to Strategy Analytics) for the Japanese vendors and anyone else with the vision to get in on this soon to boom market.

What do you think?
