Japanese moms in their 30s, have on average about 1.37 million ($11,000) stashed away in their belly buttons (hesokuri). That's where the Japanese say secret savings go.

More than 70% of Japanese housewives with children have money tucked away.

Some 39% say their husbands don't know about it and 29% said their husbands do know but don't know how much.

32% have between 10,000 and 500,000 yen. More than 16% have between 1 million and 1.5 million yen.

About 46% say their savings is from money they had before getting married. 29% say they secretly saved their salary.japanese.housewife.jpg

Where does the secret money go?

1. 44.4% to everyday living expenses

2. 23.7% for hobbies or to

study

3. 15.4% for their children's education

and

4. 15.3% saved just in case they got divorced.

Nearly one in six Japanese women are saving, just in case, it doesn't work out.

Now, THAT is putting ALL of your commitment into making a relationship work, no?
