“Old” People Compete with Young for Web Surfing Time

Submitted by Bill Belew on Saturday, 24 February 2007No Comment

I am old. Today I learned that I have been old for several years.

A Japanese report put 50+ people in a group of 50 to 69-year olds! My dad didn't even make it to 69.

The oldsters in Japan who are web savvy spend an average of 2.4 hours each day online.

Their grandkids spend 2.5 hours.  But, grandma and grandpa don't have to do homework or go to work….big difference.

The favorite activities include:

1. Reading the news,

2. Browsing maps - trying to figure out where dementia had taken them

3. Checking restaurant guides

4. Booking travel reservations

Women like to learn about:

1. lifestyle

2. trends

3. fashion

4. cosmetics

5. cuisine…it's a little late to learn how to cook

The olduns do NOT like to read blogs and participate in online communities, buy at auction sites or purchase high-tech goods.

How much time do you spend online each day? doing what?
