In 1995 Japan had 908 companies in China – with more than three times that many now at 3000+

In 1995 Japan had 1,609 companies in ASEAN4 (Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia – with more than 2,400 companies.

In 1995 Japan had 1,965 companies in NIES (South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore) compared to the present number of around 1800 (the current number excludes Hong Kong).

The total number of Japanese companies with a local presence in East Asia hovers near 8,000. With Japan’s econonmy growing again and with China eager for all things Japan that number is likely to continue to grow.
