Number of Child Abuse Cases Continue to Soar

Civilized? Gentle? Kind?

For the most part Japanese are indeed a fine people…BUT….at least every 15 minutes somebody abused their child in Japan last year. At least!

Child consultation centers heard 37,343 cases of child abuse in 2006 up 30% from 2003.

Children in two prefectures were starved to death by their parents.

Cases in Kyoto were up 72%, Fukushima were up 58%.

In Akita where two mothers murdered their children,

cases were up 40%.

About two-thirds of Japanese municipal governments visited families with children under 4 months old in bids to detect child abuse early on.

How is it possible that parents abuse their very little ones?

And, if it happens in 'civilized' countries, what about the non-civilized?
