Nuclear Waste Spilled in Earthquake
Here is some fodder for the anti-nuclear power bunch.
After all is said and done and man has done everything s/he possibly can to ensure that there will be no exposure to nuclear waste, what happens when God doesn't cooperate?
About 100 drums of low-level nuclear waste were knocked over at TEPC, Tokyo Electric Power Co's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant during the earthquake.
Lids were knocked off the drums and little ants suddenly became large menacing godzilla like creatures.![]()
Seriously, the facility did have a fire and there appears to have been some radiation leaked .
The mayor of Kashiwazaki, the hardest hit city, said, "The damage was worse than anticipated."
That is why there are anti-nuclear power
activists – no one can anticipate the worse.
TEPCO admitted that "contaminated water was also released into the ocean, but had had no effect on the environment."
How can contaminated water be released but not have any effect?
Japan gets a tremor at least every five minutes. Everyone once in a while, it gets a quake….1995 – 6,400 died in Kobe. 2004 – 65 people died and 3,000 were injured in Niigata.
And I moved out of Niigata about 6-7 years ago. Look what I am missing.
