Nikon Outsells Canon in Japan in 2007

Nikon Corp outsold Canon Inc to become the top SLR (single-lens reflex) camera seller in the country.

Nikon had 43.8% market share, up 10.2% to Canon's 40% share, down 4.6%.

Nikon sold a bunch of Y100,000 to young people and women.

Nikon's other top sellers – the D40, D80 and D40x.

Canon's best seller was the EOS Kiss Digital X and the 40D.

Outside of Japan, Canon still has the larger market share.
